Job Opportunity: Disability Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Disability Support Specialist. This role is pivotal in creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes equity and success for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access and engage with their coursework effectively.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and the Student Support Services team to develop and implement tailored support plans.
  • Assist with learning activities, note-taking, scribing, or using adaptive technology to facilitate student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of support provided and contribute to the development of individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Promote inclusive practices across the learning environment and foster a culture of respect and empathy.

About You:

You will be a patient, empathetic, and adaptable individual with a strong commitment to inclusion and accessibility in education. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely completion of tasks.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • A relevant qualification in disability support, education, or a related field (desirable).
  • A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations/campuses, if required.
