Job Description

As a Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller and CFO in the preparation of tax returns, financial reports, and other financial documents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Tax Compliance and Planning
    • Prepare tax returns for consolidated group entities and liaise with external tax advisors on compliance matters.
    • Assist with the lodgement of BAS, GST, FBT, and PAYG requirements.
    • Oversee long-term tax planning, including Div 7 A, franking credits, dividends, and distributions, and manage relationships with external advisors and the ATO.
    • Maintain the fixed asset register and perform depreciation calculations.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Prepare monthly company financial reports, including budget variance analysis commentaries.
    • Prepare annual statutory financial reports, coordinate the year-end audit process, and liaise with auditors.
    • Conduct month-end balance sheet reconciliations, supporting work papers, and ensure financial account accuracy.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, or related field, with CA, CPA (completed or near completion).
  • 3+ years experience in Private Tax or Audit within a professional services firm or a large private group.
  • Strong technical knowledge in tax compliance reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders.
