About Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
QFES is a unique emergency service agency responsible for ensuring public safety across the state.
Purpose of the Role
This role is critical in supporting our emergency response efforts. As an Auxiliary Firefighter, you will work as part of a team to respond to fire and emergency incidents, promote community safety and emergency preparedness, and contribute to ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Mandatory: Employers' written consent to attend emergencies, live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire stations, Australian Permanent Resident Status, Manual C Class driver's licence
- Expectations: Attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker; attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions; obtaining an MRV licence within 12 months of employment; participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs
Your Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire and other emergency incidents
- Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through community education activities
- Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses
- Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
- Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner
