
Electronic Monitoring Specialist

The primary function of this role is to provide technical support and assistance to commercial fishers, ensuring the effective operation of e-monitoring equipment during a field trial.
Main Responsibilities:
- Offer technical guidance to commercial fishers on the installation, use, and maintenance of e-monitoring equipment.
- Analyse data from e-monitoring systems to identify potential issues or troubleshoot problems.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address e-monitoring-related matters.
- Support the administration and development of independent monitoring plans.
- Contribute to the preparation of communication materials for the field trial and independent monitoring.
- Download, decrypt, and analyse e-monitoring footage using designated software.
- Establish standard protocols for reviewing e-monitoring footage.
- Examine information from existing fisheries reporting platforms.
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Familiarity with commercial fishing vessels and operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with commercial fishers.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- Good time management skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidentiality and sensitivity in handling information.
- Familiarity with MS Office and IT applications.
- Adaptability in responding to changing work requirements and managing multiple tasks.
- Holding a valid C-Class Open Driver's License.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience working with commercial fishing operations.
- Previous experience interacting with commercial fishers.
- Technical knowledge of electronic equipment used on commercial fishing vessels.
