About the Role

Natural hazards research is at the core of our mission. We work with participants and the community on actionable research supporting better decision-making to save lives and protect property.

The Research Program Delivery Lead oversees a national team addressing common issues, ensuring the research program meets end-user needs from initiation to implementation.

To succeed, you must demonstrate extensive stakeholder engagement skills, partnership development, project and contract management expertise, strong people and relationship management capability, sound analytical, conceptual and project management skills, and knowledge of research organisations such as university research teams, cooperative research centres or government departments and agencies.

Tertiary qualified candidates will bring high-level skills and experience in managing complex projects, developing partnerships, and leading cross-functional teams.

Candidates must address the key selection criteria in their application, demonstrating their ability to contribute to the success of our organisation.

About Us

We are Australia's national centre for natural hazard resilience and disaster risk reduction. Our research addresses major challenges arising from natural hazards including bushfires, floods, cyclones, heatwaves, storms and other hazards. Our goal is to reduce disaster risk, supporting emergency service agencies and communities in mitigating impacts of, responding to and recovering from disasters caused by natural hazards.

Selection Criteria

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  1. University degree, preferably in an area relevant to natural hazards science and / or emergency management, or equivalent work experience.
  2. Strong project management skills, including planning, organisation and operating effectively in fast-paced environments.
  3. Experience in partnership or stakeholder engagement / management roles.
  4. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively and build relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders.
  6. Sound conceptual and analytical skills, including issue identification, solution management and solution development.
  7. Highly developed technical skills in Office and related software.
  8. At least 2 years' experience in a similar or related role.
  9. Knowledge of government departments and agencies, universities or research organisations.
  10. Experience working in, or with, disaster and emergency management organisations.
  11. Able to thrive in remote working environments with dispersed staff and stakeholders.
