Electrical Technician Role Overview

The ideal candidate for this position will specialise in electrical switchboards, motors and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support the Water Management and Treatment (WMAT) and Water Operations (WOP) teams.

  • Key responsibilities include identifying and removing limitations or deterioration that affect system performance, maintaining and updating data within the planned maintenance system, including schedules, procedures, work history, and parts usage.

In addition to these duties, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing training and guidance to staff on the operation and maintenance of electrical assets, assisting with installations and equipment upgrades, and supporting and maintaining Telemetry, SCADA, and instrumentation systems.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of an Electrical Trade Certificate, a Contractor Licence and/or Qualified Supervisors Certificate (Electrician).
  • Proven experience as an electrician, ideally within the water industry or a related process-driven environment.
  • A strong understanding of instrumentation and switchboards, large motors, variable speed drives (VSDs), high voltage systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, radio telemetry, and condition-based monitoring.
