Job Overview

The position of Electrical Technician Water Operations is based at our Taree Water Services Depot, Muldoon Street, and covers the southern area including Bulahdelah, Hawks Nest, Tea Gardens, and Stroud.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specialise in electrical switchboards, motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Support the Water Management and Treatment (WMAT) and Water Operations (WOP) teams.
  • Identify and remove limitations or deterioration that affect system performance.
  • Maintain and update data within the planned maintenance system, including schedules, procedures, work history, and parts usage.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on the operation and maintenance of electrical assets.
  • Assist with installations and equipment upgrades.
  • Support and maintain Telemetry, SCADA, and instrumentation systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful, you'll hold an Electrical Trade Certificate along with a Contractor Licence and/or Qualified Supervisors Certificate (Electrician). You'll bring proven experience as an electrician, ideally within the water industry or a related process‑driven environment. Technical expertise should include instrumentation and switchboards, large motors, variable speed drives (VSDs), high voltage systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, radio telemetry, and condition‑based monitoring.
