About the Role

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to lead the design and establishment of a multidisciplinary service for children and young people in out-of-home care. As a senior leader, you will provide strategic direction and manage a cross-practice team to deliver holistic outcomes.

The successful candidate will have expertise in care and protection law, with a strong commitment to social justice and child welfare. You will bring a trauma-informed approach to your practice and be able to collaborate effectively with professionals from various domains.

You will inspire and guide others with clarity, empathy, and purpose, leveraging your innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to enhance legal support for vulnerable children and young people.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A high level of expertise in care and protection law, particularly in representing children and young people in courts.
  • A proven history of working within or leading interdisciplinary teams, collaborating effectively with professionals across legal, welfare, and therapeutic domains.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate others, providing strategic leadership and guidance to achieve improved outcomes for children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage stakeholders effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree or equivalent.
  • Admission as a solicitor in NSW, with eligibility to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate.
  • Capacity to travel regularly, including to regional and remote areas.
  • Eligibility to undertake care and protection work in accordance with quality standards.
