The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Combat Systems Engineering Manager to join the Amphibious Combat and Sealift Systems Program Office (ACSSPO) team.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance on the development and implementation of combat systems for LHD, LSD, and LLC vessels.

With a strong background in engineering management and a proven track record of delivering complex projects, you will work closely with uniformed ADF members, APS employees, and contractors to ensure that all engineering services and advice are provided to multiple external stakeholders in Defence.

The estimated salary for this position is $AUD 120,000 - $160,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Directing and coordinating planning, organisation, control, integration, and delivery of complex to very complex engineering services and products;
  • Leading and managing engineering and technical staff in accordance with Defence policies and organisational objectives;
  • Implementing engineering processes and activities identified in the Engineering Management Plan (EMP) and subordinate technical plans;
  • Managing and evaluating engineering projects to ensure key performance measures are met;
  • Performing design assurance or acceptance representative duties in accordance with the delegations issued by the relevant Technical Regulatory Authority or liaising with those who hold the required technical delegations;
  • Investigating and reporting on any materiel defects, non-conformances, engineering change proposals, or applications for concessions on materiel requirements, and developing recommendations to address the issue.

The ideal candidate will have well-developed written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders.

This role requires the ability to model ethical behaviours, uphold the Australian Public Service (APS) and Defence Values, and encourage a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
