Community Support Specialist Job

We are seeking a compassionate Community Support Specialist to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities in our community.

As a Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in facilitating community access and engagement for our participants, enabling them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to participants, promoting their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life.
  • Assisting participants in developing life skills, fostering social connections, and accessing community resources.
  • Implementing individualised support plans, tailoring assistance to meet the unique needs and goals of each participant.
  • Encouraging and empowering participants to pursue their interests, hobbies, and personal development opportunities.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, promoting independence, self-advocacy, and community integration.
  • Documenting participant progress and maintaining accurate records in accordance with organisational guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience as a Community Support Specialist or in a similar role is preferred, but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with participants, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Compassion, empathy, and patience in providing person-centered care, understanding and respecting the unique needs and abilities of each participant.
