About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cleaner to join our team at St Margaret Mary's College, Hyde Park. This is a Term Time, Fixed-Term position completing 38 hours of work per week, for the duration of the 2024 School Year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe learning and working environment for students, staff, and visitors to the school in line with cleaning schedules and processes.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, polishers, and blowers, ensuring a commitment to safe operating procedures.
  • Sweep, mop, and buff tiled floors, vacuum carpets, mats, and other floor surfaces, dust desks, tables, shelves, and ledges, collect litter, empty and wash rubbish bins, and remove graffiti from desks, chairs, and walls.
  • Clean windows, fans, fridges, stoves, toilets, sinks, and basins, sweep, blow, and hose/pressure clean paved areas, and lock up rooms, including windows, doors, and turning off lights.
  • Order supplies and receive deliveries, and/or be given the responsibility for the distribution and maintenance of toilet and other requisites and cleaning materials in buildings/establishments.
  • Carry out carpet cleaning using equipment such as powder systems, liquid shampoo systems, or hot water injection and extraction systems.
Requirements
  • Recent experience in a cleaning/services/operational role or similar.
  • Understanding and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety legislation and professional regulations to reduce the risk of harm to self and others relative to the role of a cleaner.
  • Ability to follow safety precautions that may involve the use of protective equipment where work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials, machinery, use of tools, and other equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to meet the necessary standards with respect to clarity, accuracy, and professionalism appropriate to the role.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks with competing timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships.

  • Competitive Annual Salary starting: $60,070 - $61,985 per annum pro rata pending experience + Super ($31.26 per hour).
