We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cleaning Professional to join our team at St Margaret Mary's College, Hyde Park. This is a Term Time, Fixed-Term position completing 38 hours of work per week, for the duration of the 2024 School Year.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the school by providing a high level of cleanliness to the facilities. This will involve working within a team to provide a clean, safe and pleasant environment for students and employees, and creating a physical environment that is conducive to learning and safe student movement.
The Cleaning Professional will work with limited supervision under the direction of the Business Manager, and will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe learning and working environment for students, staff and visitors to the school. This will include operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, sweeping, mopping and buffing tiled floors, vacuuming carpets, mats and other floor surfaces, dusting desks, tables, shelves and ledges, collecting litter, emptying and washing rubbish bins, removing graffiti from desks, chairs and walls, and cleaning windows, fans, fridges, stoves, toilets, sinks and basins.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for sweeping, blowing and hosing/pressure cleaning paved areas, locking up rooms including windows, doors and turning off lights, and ordering supplies and receiving deliveries and/or being given the responsibility for the distribution and maintenance of toilet and other requisites and cleaning materials in buildings/establishments.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need recent experience in a cleaning/services/operational role or similar, and an understanding and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety legislation and professional regulations to reduce the risk of harm to self and others relative to the role of a cleaner. You will also need the ability to follow safety precautions that may involve the use of protective equipment where work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials, machinery, use of tools and other equipment.
You will need to be able to manoeuvre within the office/school environment appropriate to the position – demonstrating agility and adherence to manual handling techniques, and be able to communicate effectively to meet the necessary standards with respect to clarity, accuracy and professionalism appropriate to the position. You will also need to be able to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks with competing timelines, and have a demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive Annual Salary starting: $60,070 - $61,985 per annum pro rata pending experience + Super ($ $31.26 per hour), modern facilities, equipment and resources, superannuation up to 12.75% employer contribution (in a co-contribution arrangement), access to long service leave after 7 years of continuous service, 14 Weeks' paid parental leave, corporate health insurance, induction, professional development and learning opportunities, and well-being programs and initiatives.
