Lead Financial Expert Required

We are seeking a skilled and experienced financial leader to join our team in Barcaldine, QLD.

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a hands-on, operational role as a Finance Manager. You will be responsible for leading a capable finance team, ensuring the delivery of core financial operations, providing mentorship and leadership, and contributing to business plans, cost-benefit analyses, and long-term financial strategies.

As a key member of our team, you will oversee statutory compliance, audits, and grant acquittals, manage day-to-day finance operations, including rates, AP/AR, and treasury, coach, mentor, and upskill team members, and partner with Council leadership to improve financial literacy and decision-making.

Requirements:
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar finance leadership role.
  • Strong leadership presence with proven ability to guide and empower teams.
  • Proven ability to lead audits, prepare statutory reports, and manage budgets.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring finance teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with executive leadership and Councillors/boards.
  • High-level financial acumen with the ability to problem-solve and challenge assumptions.
