Financial Leadership Opportunity

This full-time role involves leading a finance team and delivering core financial operations while providing mentorship and guidance.

  • Develop and manage annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes
  • Oversee statutory compliance, audits, and grant acquittals ensuring adherence to regulations and standards
  • Manage day-to-day finance operations including rates, accounts payable/accounts receivable, and treasury functions
  • Cultivate, mentor, and upskill team members to enhance their skills and performance
  • Partner with leadership to improve financial literacy and informed decision-making
  • Contribute to business planning, cost-benefit analyses, and long-term financial strategies
  • Implement and optimize financial systems, policies, and controls to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Evaluate strong governance, accountability, and financial sustainability across the organization

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance, along with at least 4 years' experience in a similar finance leadership position.

  • Hold a CA or CPA qualification (highly regarded but not essential)
  • Experience working within or supporting local/state government service delivery or a similar sector

You will also bring:

  • Strong leadership presence with proven ability to guide and empower teams
  • Proven ability to lead audits, prepare statutory reports, and manage budgets effectively
  • Experience coaching or mentoring finance teams to achieve improved performance
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including working with executive leadership and key stakeholders
  • High-level financial acumen with the ability to problem-solve and challenge assumptions
  • Highly organized and confident, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced finance environment
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (experience with Practical is highly regarded)
  • Resilient, adaptable, and motivated by meaningful impact in regional communities
