Overview

Location: Newcastle. Contract: Full Time. Role Type: Permanent. Working hours per week: 40. Salary: Negotiable. Closing Date: Tuesday 30 September 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Caretech Children's divisional finance team in supporting operational teams to deliver financial targets and oversee the financial performance of the Scottish part of the division.
  • Provide financial direction, support and guidance to Heads of the various businesses within the Division to ensure financial literacy and operating efficiency against targets.
  • Consolidate monthly results and forecasts for the Children's Services division; collaborate with Managing Director & Commercial Director on strategy.
  • Lead divisional budget process (with Managing Director).
  • Lead Month End review of homes Gross profit and EBITDAR; prepare Month End Commentaries; prepare costings for new referrals and review fees regularly.
  • Negotiate with Local Authorities on fees (rates, incentive schemes, negotiations, disputes).
  • Review & sign off payroll; work with senior team on financial aspects for Organic Development proposals.
  • Prepare capital investment proposals for Board; review timelines and P&L expectations through project life.
  • Work with Commercial Director to ensure key financial deadlines are achieved and results are accurately reported.
  • Assist with financial due diligence of acquisitions and post-purchase integration.
  • Dig behind the numbers to understand key trends; perform other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience.
  • At least five years' experience in a similar multi-site position.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to manage a dispersed finance department and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Experience engaging with external stakeholders in commercial negotiations.
  • Experience working with non-financial managers to drive performance improvements.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel; strong team player.
  • Desirable: Experience in a similar Health & Social Care role, specifically Children's Services; knowledge of the market context.
