We are seeking a passionate Teaching Specialist (Clinical Practitioner) in Midwifery to contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across various midwifery topics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver high-quality, innovative teaching through lectures, tutorials, clinical placements, and contemporary digital strategies.
  • Create course materials, coordinate placements, and conduct assessments.
  • Maintain current skills and knowledge through ongoing clinical or community-based practice.
  • Enhance teaching and learning through scholarship and may also teach across other programs within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences or other university Colleges.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders to improve teaching, learning, or research outcomes.
  • Provide informal leadership by supporting academic staff, coordinating workflows, and ensuring high standards aligned with university policies and practices.

The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in a relevant field or possess equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Midwifery.

You must be registered, or eligible and committed to registering, with AHPRA as a Midwife, and have current, hands-on clinical experience.

A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary midwifery education practices is essential.

With excellence in tertiary-level teaching, including in simulation and clinical settings, you also have experience in placement coordination.

You'll bring a proven ability to independently design, deliver, and evaluate innovative teaching and learning strategies, as well as student assessments.

Reflective practice and a clear understanding of the link between teaching, research, and clinical practice are key.

You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with your ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and industry partners.
