Empowering Women through Financial Independence

The Karlup Service is committed to supporting women who have experienced family and domestic violence to regain their financial independence. As a Financial Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing individual counselling services to empower these women to effectively manage their finances.
This is a full-time permanent position working 38 hours per week between Monday to Friday. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides holistic, wraparound recovery-based model aimed at supporting women and children to heal from family and domestic violence.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum qualification of Diploma of Financial Counselling or 1-3 years' experience in financial counselling with a sound knowledge of financial counselling practices.
- Current registration with the Financial Counselling Association of WA (FCAWA).
- Previous experience providing counselling services to women who have experienced family and domestic violence and a sound understanding of the dynamics of FDV and the social and cultural context in which it occurs.
- A sound understanding of community resources and ability to navigate external agency requirements to support clients.
- Capability to work within a trauma and culturally informed model of service delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diversity and social-inclusion including gender, sexuality, disability, cultural, age and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.
