Job Description

Make a genuine difference working with our dedicated team at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Queensland's earliest nature-based tourist destinations.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced casual Wildlife Keeper to support our Wildlife team in achieving high levels of animal and health husbandry, exhibit maintenance, keeper talks, and a keen eye for detail.

The role involves working closely with our Life Sciences Manager to ensure the highest standards of animal care and welfare. The successful applicant must hold or be studying Certificate III Captive Animal Management and have a proven track record of delivering high levels of customer service in an energetic, friendly, and professional manner within a busy work environment.

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Wildlife handling, husbandry skills, and previous experience.
  • Delivering a high level of friendly customer service to all domestic & international visitors.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, in all weathers, in a role that requires substantial walking in a workplace that contains animals including birds and reptiles.
  • High levels of energy, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility and reliability with a positive 'can do' attitude in our team environment.
  • Ability to carry / support up to 10kg for a prolonged period.
  • Hold a current manual Driver's licence and current First Aid qualifications would be an advantage.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Certificate III Captive Animal Management.
  • Wildlife handling, husbandry skills, and previous experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and reliability with a positive 'can do' attitude.
