Due to an internal promotion, and as we continue to develop our strategic priorities including our diverse animal collection which now includes; Australian Native Wildlife, our Lost Valley Exotic Animals and a new Farmyard experience, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has an opportunity for a dedicated and experienced **Wildlife Collections Manager**. In this highly varied role, our Wildlife Collections Manager will be responsible for animal population management, husbandry, and welfare across Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to further support our strategic plan and contribute towards our missions and charitable purpose.
**About the Role**
Reporting to the Wildlife Manager, our industry experienced Wildlife Collections Manager will continue the development of our Animal Population Management plan to be consistent with and support the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) Strategic Plan and with the Vision and Mission of NTAQ.
As a proactive and knowledgeable leader, our Wildlife Collections Manager is responsible for ensuring the optimum health and diversity of our animal populations by effectively managing species programs across taxonomonic groups and ensuring strong relationships across Zoo Networks to manage our present animal collection and future pipeline and plans.
As a high integrity leader, our Wildlife Collections Manager will manage the collection to meet international standards of ethics and animal welfare and balance this with ensuring a highly engaging visitor experience. In this diverse role, they will plan and manage off-site and international collections, the CWS collection, relevant accreditation programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation to support safe work practices and animal welfare
As we continue to innovate and evolve, this role will play a critical part in our future growth by supporting the development of Strategic Projects and manage exciting new upgrades, exhibits and projects as we continue to be in a period of growth and investment.
In this hands-on role you will also not be too far from our animal collections and will oversee various husbandry duties with reptiles, birds and mammals including managing diets, husbandry standards, capture and restraint techniques, maintenance of accurate animal records and liaising with the CWS veterinary team for animal health management.

**About You**
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive background in animal population management and experience at management level within the commercial zoo industry, ideally with some international reach. Further to this experience we are also looking for the following knowledge and skills:
- Previous management experience within the commercial zoo industry
- High level of experience and knowledge of all aspects associated with the maintenance and management of captive fauna and its display and interpretation to the public.
- Has industry recognized knowledge and understanding of ZAA, ASMP, and TAGs.
- Demonstrated experience in managing threatened species programs.
- Good people management skills, including developing the potential of a talented and passionate team, coaching and mentoring.
- Experience in managing quality interpretation programs, creating outstanding exhibits and driving projects that escalate CWS exhibits to international standard attractions.
- Highly developed written and oral communication & report writing skills, including capability with Microsoft Office products.
- Possess an appropriate qualification in a scientific discipline, relevant field or vast appropriate experience.
- Manual Driver's licence required
