Policy Development and Implementation Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the achievement of departmental vision and objectives. As a Policy Development and Implementation Officer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing policies that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough research on complex policy issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including their social and economic impacts.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, and report results in accordance with departmental standards and requirements.
  • Pose high-level strategic advice, submissions, and briefing papers to key stakeholders through collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Prepare authoritative papers on complex policy issues for government consideration, including cabinet and CBRC submissions.
  • Support the implementation of government policies, programs, projects, and initiatives to contribute to the achievement of departmental vision and objectives.
  • Identify, manage, and report risks associated with work within the department.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, non-government organizations, peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander bodies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a professional network of people involved in policy development, management, and monitoring through building strong relationships across government and community.
  • Contribute to an accountable, fair, and safe work environment through the implementation of management practices, policies, and procedures.
