Job Title: Underwriting Assistant

Melbourne, Sydney - Australia

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to support our underwriting team in their line of business.

The main duties involve efficient service of local produced accounts and overall compliance with policies.

The role requires working collaboratively with the offshore team to ensure timely requests of quotes, name clearance, and accurate binding of quotes are met.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Proactive engagement with underwriters to ensure an efficient and smooth account hand over for accounts to process/instruct policies on systems.
  • Ensuring timely implementation of system procedures and creation of instruction documents.
  • Accountable for correct premium, commission, and tax bookings in processing systems.
  • Keeping track of implementation progress and liaising with local staff to resolve queries.
  • Addressing requests originating from clients/brokers immediately and referring to underwriters.
  • Developing expert level knowledge with regards to systems and processes.

You will report to the Team Lead, Australia.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Prior experience in insurance would be highly advantageous.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication.
  • Great time management skills are essential.
  • Continuous Improvement Focused: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas.
  • Results Oriented: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs.
