Job Opportunity: Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in managing, optimizing, and scaling our enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering and maintaining the Commvault backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure.
  • Monitoring system health, job performance, and storage utilization proactively.
  • Leading root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Providing level 3 support and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ensuring adherence to data retention and protection policies.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Designing and testing disaster recovery strategies.
  • Applying a strong risk mindset to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Automating routine backup tasks using scripting tools (Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
  • Collaborating with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate Commvault with AWS and other platforms.
  • Participating in capacity planning and architecture reviews.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations.
  • A strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets (ECS, Pure, VMAX).
  • Proficiency in VMware technology – Aria Suite, VRA/VRO Automation.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana and Prometheus.

It's also desirable to have:

  • Extensive experience in enterprise backup and recovery.
  • Commvault Certified Professional or higher.
  • A strong understanding of storage concepts, allocations, and replication technologies.
  • Exposure to ITIL processes and change management.
