Work Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role:

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) professional to join our team. As a key member of our organisation, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of our WHS policy and standards across all activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement WHS arrangements
  • Define and oversee the Safety Management System
  • Effectively implement the 3-lines of assurance model
  • Present a full and accurate picture of WHS performance for senior management review and action
  • Engage and consult to support an open, inclusive, positive WHS culture
  • Provide specialist WHS advice and support to all levels within the organisation
  • Review safety performance across the organisation, including audits and major incidents improvements to completion and escalating as appropriate
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent nationally recognised professional qualification coupled with substantial post-qualification experience in WHS leadership in high-risk industries
  • Expert knowledge and experience in the implementation of WHS regulations
  • Experience in audit and incident management processes and systems
  • Superior organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Results-driven and improvement orientation
  • A collaborative and engaging style
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Eligible for Australian Defence security clearance
