Lead People and Culture Transformation

 

The role of Director, People is pivotal in shaping Marine Rescue Queensland's workforce strategy, culture, and capability. The position is responsible for leading the organisation's people management, culture development, and volunteer engagement initiatives.

This is a complex and rewarding leadership role that requires an executive leader who thrives in dynamic environments and leads with clarity. They will bring a grounded, emotionally intelligent style and a history of building trust where it matters most.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing enterprise-wide people and culture strategies in complex environments.
  • Building and leading high-performing teams through transformational periods.
  • Providing deep knowledge of governance, risk management, workforce development, and volunteerism.
  • Maintaining a leadership style that is emotionally intelligent, people-focused, and grounded in trust.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing and delivering people and culture strategies in complex environments. They will also have a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams through transformational periods.

A strong understanding of Queensland's public sector environment, including stakeholder engagement across government, is highly regarded but not essential. Regular travel across Queensland to maintain connections with regional staff and volunteer units is required.
