About This Role
ALS Environmental seeks a talented Laboratory Chemistry Professional to join its team on a full-time, fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for various laboratory tasks, including sample receipt and processing in a fast-paced environment where precision and efficiency are essential.

The Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures Manual.
  • Supervise and train laboratory staff.
  • Prioritize daily workload.
  • Operate and maintain instrumentation.
  • Report results in accordance with Quality work instructions.
  • Comply with laboratory's QC and HSE requirements.
  • Prepare standards for sample analysis.
  • Maintain relevant documentation.

Requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills in a fast-paced work environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a commercial laboratory.
  • Previous experience operating GC/FID, GCMS, or LCMSMS equipment is required.
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent (Honours and Chemistry disciplines advantageous but all science backgrounds encouraged).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A working knowledge of organic sample preparation techniques for environmental samples.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Interest in method development, verification, and validation.
  • A working knowledge of lab safety requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment.
