Our Health & Safety (H&S) team supports employees across Wagerup Refinery and Bunbury Port.

Reporting to the Location H& Safety Manager, you'll lead a dynamic, high-performing team guiding operational personnel, contractors, and frontline leaders on H& Safety matters.

Your focus will be on maintaining mine safety management system compliance and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and support the safety team through coaching, training facilitation, and career development planning.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to the H& Safety Manager to ensure that training and development is suitable for the operation and associated risks.
  • Support the H& Safety Manager as required, including tracking and facilitation of Statutory Reporting, liaising with Corporate and Regulatory officials.
  • Support implementation of the H& Safety management strategy, mine safety management system framework and H& Safety risk reduction programs, ensuring priority remains on critical risk management.
  • Conduct trend analysis and interrogate governance systems, to identify continuous improvement focus areas, and value add by initiating and participating in special projects.
  • Participate in and/or lead H& Safety critical functions for Wagerup and Bunbury Port, including risk management, auditing, change management and major incident investigations.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Regional and Global HS initiatives and projects.
  • Identify and initiate localised Fatal and Serious Injury Prevention initiatives and influence leaders to reduce risk and share best practice.

What We Need from You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in H& Safety or related fields.
  • Strong Health & Safety related experience, ideally in a heavy industry or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge and application of legislative standards to ensure Alcoa's compliance to WHS requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to lead people in the continuous improvement of health and safety systems, and performance.
