Safety Specialist

Your Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be a key influencer in driving health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) excellence across our projects. You will be a natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills and strong technical expertise to steer the development and implementation of HSEQ standards, undertake audits and inspections, and work closely with senior management to prepare reports. Additionally, you will motivate and educate BMD Constructions employees to champion best practice use of our systems, develop work method statements, project plans and inspection and test plans, and implement system changes and improvements to demonstrate continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Steer the development and implementation of HSEQ standards that align with compliance and due diligence requirements
• Undertake audits and inspections
• Work closely with senior management to prepare reports
• Motivate and educate BMD Constructions employees to champion best practice use of our systems
• Develop work method statements, project plans and inspection and test plans
• Implement system changes and improvements to demonstrate continuous improvement
Requirements
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a qualification in work health and safety (minimum of Certificate IV) and knowledge of current legislation, standards and industry requirements. Prior experience in the construction industry is highly desirable, as is qualifications in training and assessment.
