About the Fleet Management Role

BR Transport Pty Ltd is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Fleet Manager to lead the planning, acquisition, leasing, maintenance, optimization and selling of our vehicle fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Determine vehicle requirements and plan fleet acquisitions by analyzing market trends and client needs.
  • Organize and control the buying, selling, and leasing of vehicles to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Coordinate vehicle leasing and rental operations across the business to ensure seamless logistics.
  • Manage ongoing maintenance schedules, servicing, and vehicle inspections to prevent downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
  • Maintain up-to-date registration, insurance, and compliance documentation to avoid fines and penalties.
  • Monitor vehicle usage and control associated operating costs to optimize fleet performance.
  • Manages a fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are properly maintained and serviced to meet business needs.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all vehicle transactions to inform future decisions.
  • Liaise with dealers, leasing companies, mechanics, insurers, and transport authorities to establish strong relationships and secure favorable terms.
  • Develop and implement fleet management policies and best practices to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Conduct market research to support vehicle acquisition and fleet strategy to stay ahead of competitors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fleet management, vehicle operations, or a related field with a track record of success.
  • Excellent sales-related skills including negotiations for buying and selling and creating new leads for revenue generation.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle compliance, servicing, and registration requirements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Strong planning, budgeting, and cost-control skills to manage resources effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in fleet management systems and Microsoft Office Suite to streamline operations and improve productivity.
  • Ability to manage external relationships with service providers and vendors to secure favorable terms.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive, logistics, or business (desirable) to demonstrate expertise.
  • Registration or licensing may be required, depending on jurisdiction, to operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
