Lifestyle Assistant Role

As a Lifestyle Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing of residents through recreational and leisure activities. Your responsibilities will include supporting colleagues, students, volunteers, relatives, and friends, as well as assisting with documentation and providing support in dementia/high care areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report changes in resident condition to Registered Nurses/Enrolled Nurses.
  • Follow program directions and assist in creating innovation within the program.
  • Set a calming mood in lounge and dining areas through music and activities.
  • Assist with meal delivery and support resident behavior.
  • Provide quiet engaging activities for residents.
  • Document progress notes and complete assessments.
  • Actively promote resident independence and choice.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect resident dignity.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or Bachelor of Health Sciences.
  • Ability to work in a team and show initiative.
  • Innovative and flexible with humor and versatility.
  • Affinity for working with frail elderly.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in gerontic care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aged Care Standards and Accreditation.
