Job Role Overview:

The Public Relations Account Executive plays a pivotal role in supporting client relationships, executing PR campaigns, and contributing to media outreach and strategy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of clients and foster meaningful connections with key stakeholders
  • Stay abreast of client objectives, brand, market, competitors, and individual products/suite of services
  • Remain vigilant across all aspects of the account, asking pertinent questions and engaging in client meetings and work-in-progress sessions
  • Contribute innovative ideas to the team, suggest concepts and share insights with the Client Lead
  • Monitor account KPIs and updated deliverables
  • Respond to clients in a timely manner on behalf of the team, if the Client Lead is unavailable and a response is required
  • Engage in daily/weekly/monthly reading of various titles (print/online/newsletters) to increase knowledge of key issues, identify articles of interest, and discussion points for clients - then proactively suggest to clients from research findings
Media And Influencer Collaboration:
  • Take an active interest in the media landscape in Australia and/or New Zealand, gaining insight into journalists' work and challenges
  • Proactively build and develop media and influencer contacts, aiming for a strong database of 'go-to' contacts
  • Practice calling and pitching to journalists to develop experience
  • Develop an effective tone and style of email correspondence to follow up pitches
  • Take the lead in drafting well-structured and engaging press releases, pitches, and alerts; secure approval; distribute and follow up
  • Responsible for media list updates, with support as needed
Personal Effectiveness:
  • Update the team/client on progress in a timely manner, flagging any concerns to ensure deadlines are met
  • Establish daily/weekly task lists and prioritize tasks correctly
  • Contribute relevant, varied, and valuable ideas in creative brainstorms
  • Effectively manage interns and ACs to utilize their time productively for the team
  • Record hours accurately and keep timesheets up to date daily
  • Elevate concerns or issues to the CL or Manager, providing suggested solutions where possible
