Media and Public Affairs Professional

This challenging role is responsible for managing media and external communications strategies on behalf of a major law enforcement agency. You will work closely with a talented team of creative professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate media management, corporate communication, public affairs, and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and evaluate media management, corporate communication, public affairs, and marketing strategies for various regions and commands.
  2. Oversee the production of news releases, multimedia news content, social media content, speaking points, and materials for external communications.
  3. Manage day-to-day operations of the Media Operations team, providing specialist media and organisational guidance.
  4. Prepare and deliver media awareness and skills training sessions for staff as required.
  5. Provide specialist advice to members on media, public affairs, and marketing issues.
  6. Identify proactive media, marketing, and promotional opportunities for the agency.
  7. Prepare complex news releases, talking points, speech notes, and briefing materials for use by executives or the Minister.

Role Requirements:

  • Applicants with formal qualifications in journalism and public affairs are highly regarded.

Technical/Operational/Educational Experience:

  • Experience in journalism and public affairs is highly valued.

Other:

  • Rotational shift work between 6am and 6pm is required, with rotational weekend work also necessary. Some duties may be scheduled outside regular business hours, and inter/intra-state travel may be required.
