Our company seeks a Commercial Finance Director to lead our finance team and drive financial performance.

Job Description:
  • Lead the finance team in supporting operational teams to achieve financial targets, with responsibility for the Scottish part of the division.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Take on a key leadership role within the children's services divisions, working closely with the managing director to ensure budgetary compliance, evaluate new development opportunities, and enhance commercial awareness.
  • Provide financial direction, support, and guidance to heads of businesses within the division, ensuring they are financially literate and operating efficiently with regard to established targets.
  • Consolidate monthly results and forecast for the CSE children's services.
  • Work with the managing director and commercial director on strategy.
  • Lead the divisional budget process.
  • Lead month-end reviews of homes' gross profit and EBITDAR, taking action where necessary, and prepare month-end commentaries.
  • Prepare costings for new referrals and review fees regularly.
  • Negotiate with local authorities on fees, rates, incentive schemes, negotiations, and disputes.
  • Review and sign off payroll.
  • Work with the senior team on financial aspects for all organic development proposals.
  • Prepare capital investment proposals for the board, reviewing timelines and P&L expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with the commercial director to ensure key financial deadlines are met and results are accurately reported.
  • Assist with financial due diligence of acquisitions and post-purchase integration.
  • Delve into numbers to understand key trends.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably required of the role.
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified accountant or equivalent by experience.
  • At least five years' experience in a similar multi-site position.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Evidence of success in managing a dispersed finance department and meeting deadlines on all aspects of reporting and analysis.
  • Evidence of active engagement with external stakeholders in commercial negotiations.
  • Evidence of working closely with non-financial managers to improve performance.
  • Flexibility.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong team player.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a similar role within the health and social care sector, specifically children's services.
  • Some knowledge of the market context.
