Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement targeted conservation strategies to recover threatened species in Queensland.

  • Engage stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, First Nations Peoples, non-government organisations (NGOs) and community groups.
  • Communicate program priorities and outcomes to diverse audiences, fostering shared ownership of recovery goals.
About This Role:

A passionate conservation professional is sought to lead the recovery and conservation of Queensland's unique threatened species. The ideal candidate will have strong ecological knowledge and experience in managing threatened species.

This role requires excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to lead partnerships and influence positive conservation outcomes. Experience in project planning and delivery, fieldwork, collaboration with project partners and contractors, and meeting deadlines is essential.

Requirements:
  • A science degree or a degree in a relevant natural resource discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management for threatened species recovery, with a strong background in conservation management or landscape-scale science.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship building across diverse groups.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop correspondence and share knowledge on complex conservation issues.
