
Species Recovery Specialist

Job Description:
The Species Recovery Specialist plays a vital role in developing and implementing effective conservation strategies to protect Queensland's unique threatened species.
This involves designing and delivering targeted conservation initiatives across the state, working closely with government agencies, research institutions, First Nations Peoples, non-government organisations (NGOs), and community groups.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing species recovery strategies aligned with the Threatened Species Program 2020—2040.
- Engaging with stakeholders to build partnerships and collaborations that drive meaningful outcomes for biodiversity conservation.
- Contribution to the delivery of strategic projects as part of the Department's Threatened Species Program, driving biodiversity conservation efforts in Queensland.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A science degree or a degree in a relevant natural resource discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in project management for threatened species recovery, with a strong background in conservation management or landscape-scale science.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship building across diverse groups.
