As a Technical Network Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high availability and performance service levels within complex environments. You will work effectively as a leader, technology specialist, or project operative to produce agreed business outcomes, detecting and responding to customer-impacting events, communicating with stakeholders, and managing changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining high availability and performance service levels within technically complex environments.
  • Working effectively as a leader, technology specialist, or project operative to produce agreed business outcomes.
  • Detecting and responding to customer-impacting events.
  • Communicating with stakeholders, support groups, DevOps, and Incident Management teams, and external partners and organizations.
  • Managing changes and organizing hardware replacement activities.

Requirements:

  • Relevant professional experience in real-time operational environments, preferably with exposure to large and complex mixed-technology internet-facing systems and applications.
  • Operational experience in a broad range of technology areas, including networking, security, and Unix/Linux/Windows.
  • A good understanding of the ITIL framework.
  • High-level problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and willing to own and solve issues.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and to establish effective work relationships.
  • Good personal tact, discretion, judgment, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Willingness to work in a shift environment covering 24x7x365 operations.

Desirable Skills:

  • Scripting, data analysis, and business improvement experience.
  • Practical experience in negotiating and making presentations to a range of audiences, including vendors.
  • Relevant security, Unix, Linux, or Windows certification(s).
  • Networking certification.

Telstra offers a competitive salary, estimated to be around AU$120,000 per annum, plus additional benefits.
