Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Horner Recruitment. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the operational and project delivery needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement engineering concepts and detailed designs for scientific instrumentation and equipment.
- Create and maintain accurate and detailed engineering documentation.
- Take ownership of assigned operational duties, including designing and implementing hardware improvements.
- Support the work of other engineering staff by working under their guidance or participating in design and risk assessment reviews.
- Oversee and supervise the manufacture of parts and systems.
- Ensure smooth and reliable integration of newly purchased systems or hardware into existing equipment.
- Project manage small engineering projects.
- Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and scientists to develop and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Degree level or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools, including 3D CAD and Finite Element Analysis packages.
- Sound understanding of effective engineering design concepts applicable to precision mechanics and their automation.
- Sound understanding of engineering materials and their suitable applications.
- Ability to identify suitable manufacturing techniques for custom components.
- Ability to quickly understand scientific concepts in X-ray and accelerator physics to a sufficient level for design decisions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with various technical groups and experts.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Basic knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
