Key Leadership Role

The Australian Government Department of Health seeks a talented and experienced executive to join its leadership team.

As an Assistant Secretary, you will play a key role in ensuring the department responds to current and emerging challenges to the health of Australians, our health and aged care system, and the government's objectives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and ministers, applying sound judgement and anticipating risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver outcomes by translating strategy into action, driving implementation and ensuring delivery of high-quality results aligned with organisational goals.
  • Lead by example to foster a positive, high-performing culture, build capability, encourage innovation and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build trusted relationships, manage complex interactions, and influence outcomes through collaboration and effective communication.
  • Navigate complexity and lead teams through change with resilience, clarity and a focus on strategic priorities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
