The Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its high-performing legal team in Sydney. This is a unique opportunity to work on some of Australia's most significant renewable energy and transmission infrastructure projects, playing a central role in their successful delivery.

In this position, you will provide commercially focused legal advice across the full project lifecycle - from bid and procurement through to financing, contract management, and delivery. Working closely with project and commercial teams, you will help shape contract strategy, mitigate risk, and ensure smooth project execution across complex, high-value initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of project agreements, including EPC, connection, and long-term infrastructure contracts.
• Advising on project financing, risk allocation, and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
• Supporting the development and delivery of major transmission and renewable energy projects from inception through to completion.
• Managing legal aspects of claims and disputes, with a focus on proactive resolution.
• Partnering with the business to provide strategic input into key commercial decisions.

The Candidate

You will bring at least 8+ years' post-admission experience from a top-tier or highly regarded law firm, or in-house within the infrastructure or energy sectors. Strong front-end legal skills and experience advising on large-scale projects are essential.

You will also demonstrate:

• Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex infrastructure contracts.
• Experience with major energy or transmission projects, ideally under EPC or PPP delivery models.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment.
