Senior Accountant Job Description

We seek a highly experienced Senior Accountant to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS for various industries.

About the Opportunity

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with team members and offshore accountants to maintain seamless operations.

You will contribute daily to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS for various industries from start to finish.
  • Review BAS, financial statements, and income returns prepared by offshore accountants, addressing any queries.
  • Communicate with clients regarding annual and ongoing work, resolving any issues that arise.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including invoicing and maintaining relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Taxation & SMSF Manager to ensure accuracy in your work and respond to review points.
  • Liaise with team members and offshore accountants daily to ensure seamless operations.
  • Handle matters with the ATO and other statutory authorities as needed.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • PUBLIC PRACTICE EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL.
  • Proficient in the preparation of Financial Statements & Income Tax Returns for Companies, Unit Trusts, Family Trusts, Partnerships, and Individuals.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Public Practice.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High levels of attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Xero, Suitefiles, Practice Ignition, and Karbon.
  • Strong judgement, decision-making capabilities, and initiative.
  • Calm and approachable demeanour, with reliability and honesty.
  • Active listening skills to effectively understand client needs.
  • A high standard of personal presentation.
  • Commitment to client and company confidentiality.
