Shape the Future

We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson to join our team at our Portland Aluminium Smelter. As a vital member of our operations, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our production processes.

Your primary responsibility will be to perform and coordinate Mechanical maintenance work, including preparation of work scopes, isolations, handover to and from operations, completion of work activities, commissioning, initial running checks and alignments, component change outs, routine and ad hoc maintenance requirements.

You'll collaborate with internal and external work parties to safely complete tasks to required quality and service levels. In addition, you'll optimise the performance of the process and equipment by installing, repairing, commissioning and testing equipment and components.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, high levels of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and coordinate Mechanical maintenance work
  • Collaborate with internal and external work parties
  • Optimise the performance of process and equipment
  • Install, repair, commission and test equipment and components
  • Safely complete tasks to required quality and service levels

Requirements:

  • Mechanical - Fitter & Turner - Trade (Australian Apprenticeship, Tradesperson's Rights Certificate or equivalent)
  • Advanced skills and knowledge necessary to isolate, diagnose, analyse and rectify complex equipment related problems
  • Problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills
  • High levels of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience in heavy manufacturing / industrial or continuous production environment considered advantageous
