Position Overview

Windows Server/Virtualisation Specialist

  • Contract duration with options for extension

Infinite Consulting is in search of several seasoned Windows Server/Virtualisation Specialists to support our distinguished Federal Government Client. This role offers a long-term contract with the potential for extension based on funding and approval.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Windows Server/Virtualisation Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include the construction, configuration, and maintenance of a virtualized server infrastructure across various domains. The client is actively modernizing its computing platforms, necessitating your expertise to ensure compliance with security hardening protocols and to facilitate the transition of multiple business systems from outdated platforms.

Key Duties Include:

  • Delivering technical guidance to projects and business units, while overseeing technical deliverables;
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading the Virtual Service Environment (VSE) in line with vendor recommendations to ensure optimal performance;
  • Planning, designing, developing, testing, and sustaining new or existing virtual service initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders;
  • Configuring and deploying virtual services and servers according to the operational models defined by application owners.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Windows Server/Virtualisation Specialist.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in both Agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Expertise in Wintel and VMware Infrastructure operations, including:
    • Windows Server Operating Systems
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft SCCM
    • Microsoft Hyper-V & VMM
    • Microsoft SCOM
    • Microsoft File and Print
    • VMware ESX & vSphere
    • VMware vRA
    • VMware vSAN
    • VMware NSX
    • VMware virtualization on HCI.
  • Proficiency in cloud services and automation tools, including:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Microsoft Office 365
    • Amazon Web Services
    • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Nexus or similar
    • Configuration management tools like Ansible / Puppet.
