Job Description

The Senior Safety and Sustainability Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of our employees and stakeholders. This position requires a strong leader who can develop and implement effective safety management systems, identify and mitigate risks, and drive behavioral change across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement site-specific risk assessments, operational procedures, and work instructions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with third-party site representatives, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to facilitate investigations, obtain information, and communicate the Qube SHS Management Plan.
  • Drive the established SHS consultation and communications processes, including WHS Representatives, WHS Committees, and toolbox meetings.
  • Provide leadership and assistance in developing a safety culture and environment that is consistent across all safety-critical functions.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor an inspection and audit program for sites, including maritime safety requirements, and mentor staff in carrying out these activities.
  • Implement the change management standard when processes change on site and ensure all change management objectives are met and complied with.
  • Provide advice and support to site managers to ensure adherence to legislative and legal obligations regarding WHS and workers' compensation.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach site operations staff on SHS accountabilities to ensure effective implementation of SHSMS on site.
  • Support site-based management on return-to-work and injury management initiatives.
  • Analyze site SHS performance, identifying trends, and follow-up initiatives to address identified current or emerging trends.
  • Compile high-quality and accurate monthly reporting on SHS performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in OHS/WHS.
  • A minimum of five years leading in an operational SHS environment.
  • Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) knowledge.
  • Experience in implementing and managing safety management systems.
  • Ability to develop tactical plans to address safety issues.
  • Heavy industry experience (mobile plant, lifting) preferred.
  • Return to Work Coordinator certification.
