Job Opportunity:

The Communications System Lead is a senior technical role that oversees the modernisation of air defence systems, specifically focusing on communication systems integration and technical specification development. This position requires expertise in system engineering principles and practices.

This includes supporting the technical integration of advanced communication systems with existing infrastructure, coordinating between multiple vendors and internal teams to ensure seamless integration while maintaining continuous operations at critical facilities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • System Integration: The successful candidate will lead the implementation and integration of modernised communication systems, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and adherence to security accreditation and certification processes.
  • Installation Strategy: Develop and execute site-specific installation strategies across multiple RAAF bases, minimising operational impact during transitions.
  • Verification and Validation: Verify and validate system upgrades and backup capabilities through developmental testing and site acceptance testing.
Requirements:
  • A university degree in an engineering discipline, preferably with demonstrated expertise in communications systems or similar technical fields.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in technical roles, with a focus on system integration, technical specification development, and complex system implementations.
  • Proven experience in producing engineering cost estimates, managing technical documentation, and applying system engineering principles and practices.
