About our Senior Legal Counsel role

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice and support the legal workstreams associated with regulatory compliance. You will work closely with other teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal guidance on regulatory obligations and risk management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents.
  • Advise on governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to align with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Manage external legal engagements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
  • Share legal knowledge proactively within the team and across the business.

What we're looking for in a candidate

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Legal Counsel who possesses:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law and current unrestricted practicing certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
  • Extensive post-admission experience working in the area of superannuation or financial services.
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation as it relates to financial services.
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead negotiations on complex matters and collaborate with business teams to deliver projects.
