Job Description:

The Reconditioning Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the reconditioning process meets high-quality standards for used vehicles. This involves overseeing the entire process, from repairs to detailing, and coordinating with vendors to maintain timelines and adhere to dealership quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement workflows to achieve timely and cost-effective reconditioning
  • Collaborate closely with technicians, detailers, and vendors to guarantee quality repairs and detailing
  • Manage a reconditioning pipeline, prioritizing based on sales demand while maintaining quality control
  • Ensure vehicles meet dealership standards before sale
  • Coordinate with sales and inventory teams for efficient vehicle availability
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with third-party vendors
  • Monitor costs and maintain budgets without compromising quality or safety
  • Review and approve repair orders for necessity and efficiency
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality or safety
  • Conduct final inspections to meet dealership and customer expectations
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and manufacturer standards
  • Maintain documentation of all reconditioning work
  • Address quality concerns before vehicles are placed at site
  • Supervise and lead technicians, detailers, and other staff members
  • Provide training and guidance to team members
  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Foster a positive work environment encouraging teamwork and collaboration
  • Track and report key performance indicators like cycle time, costs, and inventory readiness
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in automotive service, reconditioning, or fixed operations
  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced environment
  • In-depth understanding of vehicle repairs, bodywork, detailing, and reconditioning processes
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage timelines
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Experience with dealership management software and inventory tools
  • Automotive credentials such as ASE Certification
  • Experience with auction and trade-in inspections
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to undergo a police clearance check
