Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Program Officer to join our Communications and Engagement Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships and networks on behalf of the Remote Employment Branch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage workflows to ensure effective communication and engagement strategies are implemented.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure they are met.
  • Develop and implement communications and engagement strategies and plans for remote employment programs and services.
  • Coordinate communication and engagement projects from ideation to implementation, including strategy, design, content production, and media planning.
  • Manage the allocation of job tasks related to communications and engagement service offerings within the branch.
  • Facilitate coordination of communication and engagement activities across the branch, particularly with regional offices.
  • Ensure NIAA messaging and communication and engagement activities are consistent and align with NIAA Corporate Plan, vision, and organisational priorities.
  • Evaluate and gather data to measure the impact of communication and engagement activities, inform improvements, and better understand stakeholder needs and effectiveness of communications.
Requirements
  • Professional experience in communications, media, and marketing.
  • Previous experience engaging and working with remote communities is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships through collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and positively with First Nations peoples and communities.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to adapt and change to manage competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the matters impacting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Demonstrated high-level ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Demonstrated high-level capability and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency.
Eligibility

To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen.

The successful candidate will be required to be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check.
