Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Commercial Officer, the Assistant Chief Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing and executing corporate and program financial operations, facilitating financial decision-making across the organization, managing ASC's insurance and risk portfolio, and overseeing the infrastructure master plan. This will be achieved by aligning operations with the strategic objectives of ASC and ensuring compliance with relevant financial contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Direct ASC's financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and auditing. Ensure that financial transactions, policies, and procedures align with both short-term and long-term strategic business goals and comply with regulations and accounting standards.
  • Risk Management: Oversee ASC's insurance and risk management strategies, including business continuity and sustainability planning.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Manage ASC's infrastructure planning, focusing on long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Formulate and execute ASC's financial strategy.
  • Financial Reporting: Supervise the preparation and dissemination of monthly financial reports and financial statements. Ensure timely communication of key financial data to the CFO, CEO, Board of Directors, and other essential stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Guide the finance and accounting team to promote their ongoing professional development and training.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be a CA or CPA qualified finance professional with extensive experience in senior financial leadership roles. As the Assistant CFO, being present and engaged within the organization is vital. You will connect with various levels of the business to gain a comprehensive understanding, allowing you to align the financial strategy with the corporate plan effectively.

As a leader, the Assistant CFO will exhibit a calm, approachable, and collaborative demeanor while managing a substantial team. With a diverse stakeholder group, including the Board and Audit & Risk Committee, you will be an adept communicator and highly skilled in stakeholder engagement.

  • Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and risk management.
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting and business practices.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance and be an Australian Citizen.
