Job Title: Senior Payroll Officer

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled individual to support our payroll team in delivering a high-quality service.

The role involves supporting the team to complete business-as-usual payroll transactions, queries and related correspondence, as well as more complex tasks such as SES and Board transaction processing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the team to complete business-as-usual payroll transactions, queries and related correspondence;
  • Completing more complex payroll transactions, queries and related correspondence (including some SES and Board transaction processing);
  • Understanding and applying relevant APS legislation and terms and conditions, including Enterprise Agreement policy and procedures;
  • Providing clear, comprehensive and accurate advice to stakeholders within appropriate timeframes regarding payroll matters;
  • Monitoring and supporting team workloads to meet deadlines and quality-assure the daily work of the team;
  • Maintaining data in the Aurion payroll system and other platforms as required, in adherence with the Department's record management and privacy policies;
  • Supervising, guiding and supporting team members, including through one-on-one training;
  • Promoting teamwork at all times, including across teams during busy periods; and
  • Participating in the development and application of SOPs that underpin consistent payroll service.

Candidates must be Australian Citizens. A Baseline security clearance is also required, and successful candidates will need to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
