ERP SAP HCM / Payroll Functional Specialist | Employee Technology Experience
Location: Canberra, ACT
Security Clearance: (Baseline Preferred)
Contract Length: 12 months + 2 * 12 months extensions (Based on the discretion of the Department)
About the position:
We are seeking an experienced ERP SAP HCM / Payroll Functional Specialist to join the ERP Systems team within the Employee Technology Experience branch.
This position will play a key role in supporting business-as-usual (BAU) HR and payroll operations, while also contributing to projects that enhance employee technology solutions.
The role requires expertise across SAP HR/HCM/Payroll, with the ability to deliver functional configuration, troubleshoot complex issues, and support process optimisation across HR, Payroll, and integrated systems.
Key responsibilities of the position:
Provide functional configuration, support, and optimisation across SAP HR/HCM/Payroll modules.
Troubleshoot system issues, raise SAP notes/messages, and ensure timely resolution.
Support BAU HR, Payroll, and Learning Management System (LMS) operations while contributing to project delivery.
Analyse business requirements, model processes/procedures, and provide system solution advice.
Deliver SAP configuration solutions independently and collaborate with team members on complex solutions.
Conduct testing across HR, Performance, LMS, Payroll, and capability modules, ensuring issues are resolved.
Ensure compliance with HR and payroll regulations and maintain system data accuracy.
Participate in knowledge transfer activities, mentoring and upskilling permanent staff.
What we are looking for:
Demonstrated functional and configuration experience across SAP HR/HCM/Payroll.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a track record of resolving defects and system issues.
Proven ability to identify, improve, and optimise SAP solutions and business processes.
Experience working with HR stakeholders to define business requirements and deliver clear, actionable solutions.
Ability to provide technical advice and recommendations on system enhancements and integration points.
Desirable Experience:
Hands-on experience with SAP SuccessFactors.
Previous experience supporting both BAU and project-driven SAP HR/Payroll initiatives.
Exposure to HR technology integration across enterprise environments.
