About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems Australia. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of propulsion systems for our naval ships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within the Platform Manufacturing Engineering team to develop and implement propulsion systems for our naval ships.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the engineering value stream to develop artefacts that can be used by production floor workers.
  • Develop process and installation instructions for complex systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for propulsion systems and serve as the first point of contact for any issues that arise on the production floor.
  • Support the installation of equipment from delivery to handover to the commissioning department.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to design, plan, and execute engineering activities and projects.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable interest in Maritime Platform Systems, specifically propulsion systems.
  • Understanding of the role of manufacturing engineering in a shipyard.
  • Diploma or bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Highly motivated to achieve best results, working as a member of a team.
  • Naturally analytical, evidence-based approach to problem solving.
  • Curious and open-minded, with a healthy scepticism in the absence of solid evidence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
